
Code of Conduct
Tropical on Rails is a community conference aimed at networking and collaboration within the developer community.
We want participants to have a pleasant and rewarding experience. Therefore, all individuals are expected to show respect and courtesy to others throughout the conference and at all conference events, whether officially organized by Tropical on Rails or not.
Our Standards
Tropical on Rails is dedicated to providing a positive conference experience for everyone, regardless of age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, religion (or lack thereof), education, or socioeconomic status.
Behaviors that contribute to creating a positive environment include:
- Being kind
- Acting professionally
- Using welcoming and inclusive language
- Respecting different viewpoints and experiences
- Constructively accepting criticism
- Focusing on what is best for the community
- Showing empathy towards other community members
Unacceptable behaviors include:
- Harassment, in any form, towards anyone participating in the conference
- Deliberate intimidation or stalking
- Violent threats or language directed at another person
- Sexual language and imagery in any conference setting, including talks
- Insults or humiliation
- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or exclusionary comments
- Unwanted sexual advances
- Unwanted physical contact
- Prolonged disruption of talks or other events
Individuals who are asked to cease any inappropriate behavior must comply immediately with the request.
If a person engages in behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, the conference organization may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning the offending person or expelling them from the conference without refund.
Scope
All individuals participating in Tropical on Rails are subject to the Code of Conduct. This includes the organization and volunteers of the conference.
Exhibitors in the exhibition hall, sponsor booths and their vendors, or similar activities are also subject to the Code of Conduct.
