Code of Conduct

The Tropical on Rails is a community conference aimed at networking and collaboration within the developer community.

We want all participants to have an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Therefore, all participants are expected to show respect and courtesy to other participants throughout the conference and at all conference events, whether officially organized by Tropical.rb or not.


Our Standards


The Tropical on Rails is dedicated to providing a positive conference experience for everyone, regardless of age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, religion (or lack thereof), education, or socio-economic status.

Examples of behaviors that contribute to creating a positive environment include:

- Being kind to others

- Conducting oneself in a professional manner

- Using welcoming and inclusive language

- Respecting different viewpoints and experiences

- Accepting constructive criticism

- Focusing on what is best for the community

- Showing empathy towards other community members

Examples of unacceptable behaviors by participants include:

- Harassment of conference participants in any form

- Deliberate intimidation or stalking

- Violent threats or language directed against another person

- Sexual language and imagery in any conference venue, including talks

- Insults or humiliation

- Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, or exclusionary jokes

- Unwanted sexual advances

- Unwanted physical contact

- Prolonged disruption of talks or other events

Participants asked to cease any inappropriate behavior must comply immediately.

If a participant engages in behavior that violates this code of conduct, conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling them from the conference without refund.


Scope


All participants of Tropical.rb are subject to the Code of Conduct. This includes organizers and volunteers of Tropical.rb.

Exhibitors in the exhibition hall, sponsor booths, or similar activities are also subject to the Code of Conduct.
